Job Title: Pharmacist-Critical Care/OR
Location: Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Cincinnati, OH
Employment Type: Part-Time
Compensation: $56 to $67.25 per hour (Estimated Pay)
Schedule: 20 hours/week, rotating shifts, including weekends

Description:
The Critical Care/OR Pharmacist at Cincinnati Children's Hospital is responsible for the medication use process, including procurement, prescribing, compounding, dispensing, storage, administration, and monitoring of medications. The pharmacist will work in partnership with physicians and other clinicians to optimize treatments for patients and ensure medication safety. This role includes advising physicians, staying current on pharmacy regulations, and educating healthcare teams, patients, students, and residents. The pharmacist is responsible for meeting regulatory and fiscal requirements as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and process medication orders based on patient-specific data (e.g., weight, allergies, compatibilities).
  • Ensure all medication orders are accurate and ready for delivery.
  • Train other pharmacists and technicians on intravenous (IV) and unit dose preparations, including chemotherapy and TPN.
  • Serve as a resource for medication-related questions, making appropriate recommendations to physicians.
  • Handle medication orders for critical care, ensuring correct dosages and preparations for chemotherapy and other IV preparations.
  • Address conflicts and resolve problems in a professional manner, particularly in high-stress situations.
  • Assist in problem-solving and decision-making across various areas in the central pharmacy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD degree.
  • Ohio Pharmacist License or the ability to obtain it within three months of hire.
