Role Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for the safe and effective dispensing of medications, clinical evaluation of prescriptions, and direct patient counseling. The role ensures compliance with all regulatory, clinical, and organizational standards while supporting both patient care and pharmacy operational efficiency.

This position also involves collaboration with healthcare providers, pharmacy staff, and management to optimize therapeutic outcomes and pharmacy performance.


Key Responsibilities

1. Medication Dispensing & Clinical Review

  • Evaluate and verify prescribed medications.

  • Ensure compliance with:

    • Professional pharmacy standards

    • State regulations

    • Federal legal requirements

  • Dispense medications accurately and safely.


2. Patient Care & Counseling

  • Provide direct patient counseling on medication use.

  • Address patient concerns and medication-related queries.

  • Review patient therapy plans for appropriateness.

  • Ensure safe and effective medication outcomes.


3. Clinical Collaboration

  • Consult with prescribers and healthcare providers.

  • Support development of appropriate medication therapy plans.

  • Participate in clinical decision-making discussions.


4. Pharmacy Operations & Business Support

  • Support pharmacy performance metrics and business goals.

  • Assist in marketing and promotional pharmacy activities.

  • Help optimize operational efficiency and profitability.


5. Staff Supervision & Support

  • Assist in managing pharmacy technicians.

  • Support hiring, training, and performance monitoring.

  • Ensure staff compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.


6. Quality & Compliance Management

  • Maintain adherence to:

    • Quality assurance programs

    • Quality improvement processes

    • Controlled substance regulations

    • Record-keeping standards

  • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory policies.


7. Claims & Financial Processing

  • Review and process adjudicated prescription claims.

  • Ensure correct reimbursement and co-pay handling.

  • Follow up on rejected or problematic claims.


8. Issue Resolution & Customer Service

  • Respond to patient inquiries and escalations.

  • Resolve medication or service-related issues promptly.

  • Maintain high standards of customer service.


Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacy qualification

  • Valid pharmacist license (as per US state requirements)

  • Knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations
