Your Role

As a Pharmacist at Salem Health, you will be at the forefront of delivering exceptional patient care. You’ll oversee and support pharmacy technicians, students, and residents while managing the medication therapies of hospitalized or ambulatory patients. This role includes collaborating with healthcare providers, consulting patients, and ensuring proper medication procurement, storage, and distribution.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Evaluate electronic medical records, including medical history, lab results, and concurrent medications.

  • Participate in Unit Care Rounds and review technician-prepared patient interview summaries.

  • Assess and verify provider medication orders for safety, efficacy, and compliance.

  • Monitor ongoing medication therapies to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Consult prescribing physicians to resolve medication-related issues and document interventions.

  • Provide healthcare teams with medication information, drug therapy options, and pharmacokinetic advice.

  • Act as a liaison to nursing units or departments, overseeing medication inventory and par levels.

Supervision & Training

  • Direct and mentor Certified Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Interns, and Residents.

  • Verify accuracy in medication preparation and dispensing by pharmacy personnel.

Operational Excellence

  • Administer medications under established protocols.

  • Oversee procurement, storage, compounding, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals.

  • Conduct monthly floor inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.


Qualifications

  • Required:

    • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.

    • Licensed Pharmacist in the state of Oregon.

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.

  • Preferred:

    • PGY1 Pharmacy Residency experience.
