Clinical Pharmacist Consultant

Location: Remote (within Oregon, Washington, Idaho, or Utah)
Salary: $112K - $184K per year (estimated)

Overview:

Join Cambia Health Solutions as a Clinical Pharmacist Consultant and leverage your clinical expertise to optimize medication choices for efficacy, safety, and affordability. In this role, you'll contribute to a person-focused, economically sustainable healthcare system, supporting clinical decision-making and strategic initiatives in medication management and cost-effective pharmacy services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Decision-Making: Provide expert guidance to optimize medication therapy, focusing on efficacy, safety, and affordability using evidence-based practices.

  • Prior Authorization & Appeals: Evaluate prior authorization requests, appeals, and retrospective claim reviews. Provide recommendations for medication coverage.

  • Strategic Initiatives: Contribute to formulary management, medication therapy management programs, quality initiatives, and integrated pharmacy strategies.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with medical directors, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to improve medication outcomes.

  • Policy Development: Create medication coverage policies and position papers. Analyze healthcare cost data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.


Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

  • Experience: 3-5 years in clinical acute care or hospital settings

  • Licensing: Active, unrestricted pharmacy license in the state of practice

  • Preferred: Completion of a pharmacy residency or advanced degree in a health-related field


Skills & Attributes:

  • Clinical Expertise: Strong background in clinical pharmacy with the ability to apply therapy knowledge in a clinical care setting.

  • Communication & Analytical Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical and business skills.

  • Managed Care Knowledge: Understanding of managed care systems, pharmaceutical products, and regulations.

  • Healthcare Economics: Knowledge of healthcare financing, pharmaceutical dynamics, and reimbursement systems.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with state and federal healthcare laws, including HIPAA and Medicare/CMS regulations.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $112,000 - $184,000 (based on experience and qualifications)

  • Bonus: 15% bonus target
