Job Objectives
As a Walgreens Pharmacist, you will provide expert pharmacy consulting services to patients, ensuring safe and effective medication usage, identifying potential drug interactions, and promoting awareness. You will offer preventive and clinical healthcare services, such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcomes services, all while ensuring proper compounding, dispensing, review, and verification of medications in compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies. You will also work to optimize pharmacy financials, manage inventory, and enhance patient experiences to improve workflow efficiency.

Job Responsibilities/Tasks

Patient Experience

  • Greet and assist patients, resolving issues promptly and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Share customer service best practices with the team to deliver outstanding care, including building empathy and inclusivity.
  • Proactively engage patients to identify needs, offering services such as medication management, therapy reviews, immunizations, and wellness consultations.
  • Participate in events promoting community engagement as directed by management.

Operations

  • Provide counseling to patients on medication use, side effects, interactions, and alternatives.
  • Ensure proper compounding and dispensing of prescribed medications.
  • Maintain efficient pharmacy operations in line with regulations and company standards, including managing shift changes and opening/closing duties.
  • Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Support the use of pharmacy technology systems to enhance workflow, training, and inventory management.
  • Resolve insurance claim issues and follow up with medical providers as needed.
  • Perform clinical services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, and disease state management.
  • Analyze performance data to improve pharmacy financials and customer service, assisting with inventory management and asset protection.
  • Build relationships with local medical providers and participate in outreach activities.

People & Performance Management

  • Assist with staff hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Foster teamwork and motivate staff to achieve common goals while promoting a positive work culture.

Training & Personal Development

  • Stay updated on licensing, certification, and clinical knowledge through required training and continuous education.
  • Seek professional development through feedback, mentoring, and learning opportunities.

Communications

  • Communicate relevant health and wellness information to pharmacy staff, supporting the Pharmacy and Store Managers.

External Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the relevant state(s).
  • Experience in prescription dispensing and familiarity with state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become one within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of retail pharmacy experience, including prescription filling and verification, legal compliance, and familiarity with pharmacy systems.

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $52.00 - $80.00 per hour, with compensation dependent on factors such as geographic location, skills, experience, and education.
