Position Summary

As a Patient Access Liaison (PAL) for Krystexxa (Rare Disease), you will provide non-medical educational and logistical support to patients, caregivers, physicians, and healthcare teams.

Your role focuses on improving patient access to therapy by guiding reimbursement processes, facilitating communication between stakeholders, and ensuring ongoing patient adherence and satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

Patient & Caregiver Engagement

  • Obtain written or electronic HIPAA authorization for assigned patients.

  • Build relationships with patients and caregivers through phone, email, text, or in-person interactions.

  • Assess each patient’s needs and create tailored education and resource plans.

  • Empower patients to advocate for their own care and navigate therapy access.

  • Educate patients about Krystexxa coverage, prior authorization, and co-pay assistance programs.

  • Share information about national foundations and free drug programs as appropriate.

Healthcare Provider & Site of Care Support

  • Educate prescribers and sites of care on coverage requirements, prior authorization, and billing/coding processes.

  • Provide proactive access and reimbursement education upon patient enrollment.

  • Support resolution of access challenges, including denied claims and claim reviews.

  • Communicate regularly with physicians, offices, and site-of-care teams to ensure timely therapy initiation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, Marketing, Case Managers, and Safety/Pharmacovigilance teams.

  • Report adverse events (AEs) and product complaints in compliance with medical information standards.

  • Adhere to HIPAA, FDA, OIG, and all internal compliance policies.

  • Provide feedback and insight to improve patient access programs.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience in patient services and/or access & reimbursement
    OR

  • Master’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience
    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong scientific or clinical background (nursing preferred).

  • Experience with buy-and-bill/infused pharmaceutical products.

  • Prior experience in orphan or rare disease support roles.

  • Familiarity with HIPAA, FDA, and OIG compliance guidelines.

  • Ability to handle complex patient cases and coordinate with cross-functional partners.

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Professional and proactive demeanor with a strategic mindset.

  • Ability to respond to urgent patient needs within 24 hours.

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including some overnight or weekend commitments.
