Position Overview

As a Patient Access Liaison (PAL) for Krystexxa (Rare Disease), you will play a vital role in providing non-medical educational and logistical support to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.

You will ensure seamless patient access to therapy by facilitating communication between patients, prescribers, and sites of care, and by navigating coverage and reimbursement processes for infused pharmaceutical products.


Key Responsibilities

Patient & Caregiver Support

  • Obtain written or electronic HIPAA authorization for assigned patients.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with patients and caregivers via phone, text, email, virtual, or in-person meetings.

  • Assess individual patient needs and create tailored education and resource plans.

  • Empower patients to advocate for themselves in the treatment journey.

  • Educate patients about Krystexxa coverage, benefits, and prior authorization steps.

  • Provide guidance on co-pay assistance, national foundations, and free drug programs.

Provider & Site of Care Support

  • Deliver proactive education to prescribers and sites of care upon patient enrollment.

  • Explain coverage, prior authorization requirements, and billing/coding processes.

  • Investigate and resolve access challenges before and after infusion, including denied claim support.

  • Maintain strong communication with physician offices, site-of-care teams, and internal stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with internal teams such as Market Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, Marketing, and Safety/PV.

  • Report adverse events and product complaints per company policy.

  • Support ongoing compliance with HIPAA, FDA, and OIG guidelines.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience in patient services and/or access & reimbursement
    OR

  • Master’s degree and 4 years of experience
    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in life sciences, nursing, or clinical fields.

  • Experience with buy-and-bill/infused pharmaceutical products.

  • Knowledge of rare or orphan diseases.

  • Familiarity with HIPAA and FDA regulations, and OIG compliance guidelines.

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to manage complex cases and communicate with case liaisons and sales representatives.

  • Travel requirement: Up to 50% (including overnight/weekends).
