Purpose:

The Medical Writer for Medical Affairs supports the development of high-quality scientific and medical content used to inform healthcare professionals, payers, patients, and regulators. The role is pivotal in shaping how Lilly's data and insights are communicated to external stakeholders and supports various global medical affairs functions.


Key Responsibilities:

Content Strategy & Development

  • Develop diverse deliverables such as slide decks, manuscripts, newsletters, educational materials, and advisory board content.

  • Author, edit, and manage the lifecycle of key scientific documents.

  • Coordinate document reviews and integrate feedback from multiple stakeholders.

Project Management

  • Create project timelines and manage end-to-end document delivery.

  • Liaise with cross-functional and global stakeholders for review cycles.

  • Escalate and mitigate delivery risks as needed.

Scientific Expertise

  • Apply therapeutic area knowledge and scientific insights to medical communications.

  • Interpret data and ensure accurate, clear messaging.

  • Support literature updates and regulatory communications.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Coach and mentor junior team members.

  • Share best practices across teams and regions.

  • Support process improvements and content platform optimization.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, communications, or related field.

  • Proven experience in medical, scientific, or technical writing.

  • Strong written and verbal English skills.

  • Completion of writing assessment during evaluation.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MSc, PharmD, PhD) with a research component.

  • Experience in clinical development or medical affairs communications.

  • Knowledge in specific therapeutic areas (e.g., oncology, neuroscience, immunology).

  • Proficiency with MS Office, document management systems, and visual content development.
