Role Summary:

The Medical Surveillance Specialist provides a wide range of medical surveillance support, including monitoring clinical laboratory data for subjects in clinical studies, composing medical narratives, and interfacing with investigator sites to ensure high-quality study data.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate laboratory results daily from sponsor-designated central laboratories.

  • Analyze laboratory data at agreed frequencies from sponsor-designated data management systems/eDC platforms.

  • Conduct preliminary reviews of laboratory results relative to protocol-specific reference ranges.

  • Compare current results with prior laboratory values to identify clinically significant changes and liaise with investigator sites for additional clinical information.

  • Serve as a liaison between the Medical Services Department, sponsor-designated laboratory, and the IQVIA Project Team.

  • Maintain up-to-date laboratory knowledge through continuing education and medical seminars.

  • Identify significant trends or shifts in laboratory results and alert IQVIA Medical Advisors.

  • Communicate critical information to project teams that may impact study objectives.

  • Collaborate with central laboratory staff to facilitate monitoring and reporting of subject laboratory results.

  • Assist Lead Medical Surveillance Specialist with project set-up activities.

  • Attend project team meetings as required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or allied health sciences (e.g., Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy).

    • Healthcare backgrounds such as Medicine (Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda) or Dentistry are also acceptable.

    • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

  • Experience:

    • 2–6 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 2.5 years in medical surveillance.

  • Skills:

    • Strong technical ability to comprehend and integrate scientific data from various sources.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Proficient in computer applications, especially word processing and data management.

    • Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
