Job Description:

The Medical Surveillance Specialist 1 will support clinical trials by providing medical surveillance services including monitoring of laboratory data, composing medical narratives, and engaging with investigator sites. This role is vital for ensuring data quality and clinical relevance throughout the study lifecycle.

 


Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Monitor and evaluate daily laboratory results from sponsor-designated central laboratories.

  • Review and analyze lab data at set intervals using data management systems/eDC platforms.

  • Conduct preliminary reviews of lab results against protocol-specific reference ranges, comparing current and past values to detect clinically significant changes.

  • Contact investigator sites for additional clinical details as needed and share findings with project teams.

  • Act as a liaison between the Medical Services Department, sponsor labs, and IQVIA project teams.

  • Keep updated on laboratory science developments through continued education and medical seminars.

  • Identify potential safety signals or trends in lab data and escalate to IQVIA Medical Advisors.

  • Collaborate with the project team to share critical information impacting study objectives.

  • Work with central lab staff for accurate monitoring and reporting of subject lab results.

  • Assist Lead Medical Surveillance Specialist in project setup activities.

  • Attend project meetings as required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 


Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or allied health sciences such as Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy, or healthcare fields like Medicine (Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda) or Dentistry.

  • 2 to 6 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 2.5 years in medical surveillance (required).

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

  • Strong scientific comprehension with ability to integrate and interpret complex data sets.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in word processing and data management tools.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented capabilities.

  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with peers, managers, and clients.
