Position Overview

The Medical Scribe at Balboa Nephrology plays a critical role in supporting high-quality patient care by accurately documenting patient visits and interactions. This remote role requires attention to detail and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transcribe Patient Visits: Document medical history, physical exams, and physician-patient encounters into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Review and Correct Documentation: Ensure accuracy by identifying and correcting inconsistencies or errors in medical records.
  • Document Orders and Procedures: Record patient orders for tests, medications, and procedures as directed by the physician.
  • Provide Patient Comfort: Offer comfort measures as allowed.
  • Additional Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments.
  • Typing Skills: Minimum of 60 words per minute.
  • Communication: Good customer service and communication skills.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with multiple software applications and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Location: Must reside in Clark County, Nevada.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with EPIC: Familiarity with EPIC is a plus.
  • Previous Scribe Experience: Prior experience as a medical scribe is preferred.
  • Bilingual Skills: Ability to speak Spanish and English.
  • Educational Background: Pre-Med or Pre-PA students are encouraged to apply, with a commitment of at least one year.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Customer Service: Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Judgment: Use good reasoning and judgment in emergency situations.
  • Relationships: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.

Additional Considerations:

  • Background Check: Required.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive movements. Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment: Operates in a professional office setting with standard office equipment.
