Position Overview

Roche is seeking a Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) to join its Medical & Scientific Affairs team within the Cardiometabolism / Neurology (Core Lab and NPC) division.

This field-based role serves as a scientific leader and trusted medical partner to laboratory and clinical stakeholders across the assigned region. The MSL will translate complex diagnostic and clinical data into meaningful scientific dialogue that supports patient care, educational initiatives, and strategic medical planning.

The ideal candidate is scientifically credible, highly collaborative, and capable of engaging healthcare professionals and senior stakeholders in peer-level scientific discussions while contributing to regional and national medical strategy.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Scientific Engagement

  • Serve as the primary scientific liaison for:
    • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
    • Laboratory directors
    • Clinical stakeholders
    • Medical decision-makers
    • Healthcare professionals
  • Conduct high-value scientific exchanges to support medical engagement and improve patient care outcomes.
  • Represent the organization as a trusted scientific partner across the assigned territory.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain long-term professional relationships with:
    • Laboratory professionals
    • Clinical experts
    • Healthcare providers
    • Senior medical stakeholders
  • Identify evolving customer needs, knowledge gaps, and opportunities for medical engagement.

Insight Generation & Strategy Support

  • Capture actionable field insights to inform:
    • Medical strategy
    • Portfolio planning
    • Regional medical initiatives
    • Educational program development
  • Bring the customer perspective into internal medical planning and strategic decision-making.

Scientific Exchange & Medical Education

  • Deliver compliant, non-promotional scientific education through:
    • In-person meetings
    • Virtual scientific interactions
    • Educational presentations
    • Speaker programs
    • Pipeline/product updates
  • Assess stakeholder needs and provide customized educational support.
  • Respond to unsolicited scientific and off-label inquiries in accordance with compliance standards.

KOL Management & CRM Excellence

  • Identify emerging clinical and laboratory leaders within the region.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of interactions, scientific insights, and engagement activities in CRM systems (e.g., SFDC).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with:
    • Senior Scientific Managers
    • Senior Medical Managers
    • Medical Affairs teams
    • Cross-functional business stakeholders
  • Support:
    • Regional medical plans
    • Product launches
    • Advisory board activities
    • Congress and scientific event participation

Medical Excellence & Team Contribution

  • Ensure scientific accuracy and consistency in all external interactions.
  • Share best practices and contribute to internal knowledge development.
  • Support onboarding and continuous improvement initiatives within the medical affairs team.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree + 5+ years of relevant clinical / practice / industry experience
    OR
  • Master’s Degree in Science + 3+ years of relevant experience
    OR
  • PhD + 1+ year of relevant clinical / industry experience
