Job Overview
AbbVie is seeking a dynamic Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Oncology to join its Medical Affairs team in Delhi, India. This field-based role involves building and maintaining strong scientific relationships with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and external experts within the oncology therapeutic area.

The Medical Science Liaison will act as a scientific expert, facilitating high-quality scientific exchange, supporting clinical research initiatives, and providing accurate medical information related to AbbVie therapies. The role also contributes to medical strategy by gathering insights from the scientific community and supporting evidence-based medical communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the oncology scientific expert for AbbVie Medical Affairs within the assigned territory and build credible relationships with healthcare professionals and external experts.

  • Act as a key point of contact for healthcare professionals requiring scientific information about disease areas and relevant AbbVie therapies.

  • Develop and implement scientific engagement plans and contribute to cross-functional territory and account planning.

  • Identify and segment healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders based on strategic medical priorities and document interactions in CRM systems such as Veeva.

  • Strengthen AbbVie’s scientific presence in leading academic and research centers through educational and research initiatives.

  • Provide scientific support and training to internal teams including sales, marketing, and affiliate brand teams to enhance therapeutic area knowledge.

  • Support medical research initiatives including registry projects, epidemiological studies, and post-marketing observational studies where applicable.

  • Assist clinical development teams with prioritized clinical trials, including study initiation and investigator engagement activities.

  • Facilitate investigator-initiated study proposals and coordinate with internal medical and research teams for evaluation and support.

  • Deliver scientific presentations to physicians, healthcare professionals, and scientific audiences during meetings, conferences, and educational programs.

  • Attend major scientific conferences and collaborate with internal teams to summarize key clinical insights and scientific developments.

  • Support requests related to compassionate use or named patient access programs in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Provide scientific guidance for research publications and medical communication activities.

  • Ensure all activities comply with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, industry codes of conduct, and AbbVie internal policies.

Educational Qualifications

  • MBBS with MD (preferred) in a relevant medical or scientific discipline

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or related healthcare field with relevant industry experience

Experience Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience in oncology, preferably within hemato-oncology, medical affairs, or clinical research

  • Experience engaging with healthcare professionals, researchers, or scientific experts is highly desirable

  • Prior exposure to pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry medical functions is advantageous

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of oncology disease areas and clinical research methodologies

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry regulations, compliance standards, and medical affairs functions

  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex clinical and scientific data effectively

  • Excellent presentation and scientific communication skills

  • Strong relationship-building skills with physicians, researchers, and healthcare stakeholders

  • High learning agility with the ability to quickly understand new therapeutic areas and scientific developments

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

  • High customer orientation and collaborative approach

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 75% travel across the assigned territory for healthcare professional engagement, scientific meetings, and conferences.
