Position Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based, customer-facing, non-promotional medical role responsible for advancing clinical practice and improving patient outcomes in the assigned territory. The MSL engages with HCPs, drives scientific exchange, supports clinical trial activities, and aligns field insights with Novartis’s medical strategy.

Location requirement:
Candidate must reside within 50 miles of the Dallas/Fort Worth territory.
This is a remote position with significant travel.


Key Responsibilities

1. Scientific Engagement & Territory Development

  • Build scientific relationships with HCPs, medical experts, dermatologists, allergists, pharmacists, nurses, and other key stakeholders.

  • Conduct scientific discussions on:

    • Emerging data

    • Disease state updates

    • Pipeline and product mechanisms

    • Patient journey barriers

    • Market dynamics in the territory

  • Identify key influencers and centers of excellence to drive educational impact.

  • Map, prioritize, and execute medical engagements aligned with the medical tactical plan.

2. Medical Strategy Execution & Insights

  • Capture actionable medical insights that influence strategy.

  • Identify unmet medical needs, partnership opportunities, and gaps in clinical practice.

  • Maintain strong scientific knowledge of the therapeutic area and Novartis products.

3. Clinical Trial Support

  • Assist in company-sponsored clinical trials by:

    • Identifying potential study sites

    • Supporting subject recruitment

    • Addressing protocol-related queries

    • Participating in SIVs and trial readiness activities

  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations teams.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with internal teams such as:

    • HEOR

    • Market Access

    • Marketing

    • Commercial teams

  • Align activities with “One Novartis” customer-centric standards while maintaining compliance.


Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Graduate degree in science or healthcare required.

  • MD, PhD, or PharmD preferred.

Experience

  • 3+ years in a pharmaceutical Field Medical/MSL role preferred, OR

  • 5+ years experience in medical affairs, clinical research, or related scientific/clinical roles.

  • Prior experience in allergy, dermatology, or related therapeutic area is preferred.

  • Strong clinical knowledge of:

    • Pharmacotherapy

    • Clinical research process

    • FDA regulations and ethical guidelines

  • Proven experience engaging medical experts and navigating complex healthcare systems.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range (2024):
$145,600 – $270,400 per year
Final compensation depends on experience, skills, and geographic factors.
