Medical Science Liaison - Mexico

1. Purpose:
Scientific Experts (SEs) are distinguished for their expertise in therapeutic areas and have unique needs for cutting-edge information due to their involvement in designing and implementing novel research and educating colleagues and students. The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program is designed to meet these needs through a field-based team of medical professionals with deep knowledge in specific disease areas, Lilly and competitor compounds, and key issues in their therapeutic fields. MSLs act as conduits for scientific exchange, providing valuable insights to Lilly’s strategy in research and commercialization. They facilitate interactions between the scientific community and industry, helping shape the future of healthcare.

2. Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and Communicate Scientific Knowledge:
    MSLs will continually enhance their expertise in their therapeutic area, ensuring they are recognized as trusted, credible, and up-to-date resources. They will be sought after for their knowledge to answer complex scientific questions.

  • Customer Engagement and Support:
    MSLs will primarily engage with SEs, building relationships through meaningful dialogues. Using emotional intelligence and deep understanding, MSLs will be the bridge between Lilly and the scientific community, answering questions and identifying potential collaborations. They will also connect SEs to relevant Lilly resources.

  • Strategic Leadership:
    MSLs will synthesize complex data and communicate clinical insights from SEs to Lilly's medical and cross-functional teams. They will use creative problem-solving and internal resources to provide solutions. MSLs will contribute to medical planning and strategic decisions within the affiliate.

  • Territory Ownership:
    MSLs will manage their territory strategically, planning and prioritizing to maximize efficiency. They will take personal responsibility for their results while ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.

3. Minimum Requirements:

  • A degree in health sciences.
  • Field-based role, requiring up to 80% travel and the ability to work 4 to 6 weekends a year.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity about science and medicine.
  • Ability to learn quickly and communicate complex scientific content effectively.
  • Self-directed and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Advanced presentation and computer skills, including literature review expertise.
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking abilities to evaluate and interpret scientific information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using field-based electronic tools for all job aspects.
  • Resilience in managing complex challenges.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence.

4. Additional Preferences:

  • Experience serving customer needs for complex information.
  • Significant professional networking experience.
  • Experience working in field-based environments.
  • Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and medical education processes.
