Position Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Haematology & Oncology is a field-based scientific role focused on engaging healthcare professionals (HCPs), key opinion leaders (KOLs), and healthcare stakeholders. The role serves as a scientific bridge between Bristol Myers Squibb and the external medical community, supporting appropriate use of therapies through scientific exchange, insights generation, and medical education.


Key Responsibilities

External Scientific Engagement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with Thought Leaders (TLs), HCPs, and access stakeholders.

  • Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions across multiple channels (1:1 meetings, group presentations, remote engagements).

  • Respond to unsolicited scientific and clinical questions with balanced, evidence-based information.

  • Build and execute medical engagement plans for key accounts (e.g., government and institutional healthcare systems).

Medical Strategy and Insights

  • Gather and communicate field insights to internal medical and commercial teams.

  • Monitor clinical landscape, competitive activity, and unmet medical needs.

  • Continuously update knowledge in oncology and haematology treatment areas.

  • Contribute to development of country-level medical strategies and plans.

Medical Education and Internal Support

  • Provide scientific training and updates to internal stakeholders (commercial, regulatory, pharmacovigilance, HEOR, legal).

  • Support promotional activities by ensuring scientific accuracy and compliance.

  • Assist in evaluation and training of speakers for BMS-supported programs.

Clinical Trial and Research Support

  • Support clinical trial site identification and feasibility assessments.

  • Assist in patient recruitment discussions for interventional and non-interventional studies.

  • Support investigator-initiated research (ISR) processes and site engagement.

  • Ensure adherence to pharmacovigilance reporting requirements, including adverse event reporting.

Patient and Access Support

  • Contribute to patient education initiatives in collaboration with advocacy groups.

  • Support development of patient education materials.


Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • MBBS, MD, BDS, or MDS required


Experience

  • 1–2 years of field medical or medical affairs experience preferred

  • Oncology or haematology experience is strongly preferred

  • Exposure to clinical research or pharmaceutical/biotech environment advantageous


Core Skills

  • Strong scientific and clinical communication skills

  • Ability to translate complex clinical data into clear, practical insights

  • Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with KOLs and HCPs

  • Independent working ability with strong teamwork mindset


Knowledge Areas

  • Oncology and haematology disease knowledge

  • Clinical trial design and drug development processes

  • Understanding of healthcare systems and access pathways in India

  • Basic understanding of HEOR (preferred)

  • Familiarity with scientific literature and medical publications


Role Characteristics

  • Field-based scientific engagement role (60–70% external interactions expected)
