The Medical Affairs Lead at AbbVie is responsible for leading medical affairs objectives in the affiliate country, ensuring that Allergan’s products are effectively communicated to healthcare professionals, researchers, and academic institutions. The role requires a combination of scientific expertise, relationship management, and strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders and support ongoing research and product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Medical Affairs Leadership:

    • Serve as an internal medical/technical/scientific resource for Allergan’s products.
    • Use medical and scientific information to facilitate engagement with healthcare professionals on clinical and basic scientific issues.
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of activities, staying within assigned budget parameters.
  2. Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain professional relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers.
    • Ensure access to current medical and scientific information about Allergan products.
  3. Collaboration with Internal Teams:

    • Work closely with Commercial leaders, Therapeutic leads, and Medical Affairs to set priorities and plans.
    • Provide support for research initiatives from Allergan’s R&D, Clinical Operations, and Medical Affairs teams.
  4. Support for Scientific Communication:

    • Develop disease-state and product communications that are medically accurate and consistent with regulatory guidelines.
    • Support Round Table and Advisory Board sessions to ensure the accuracy of clinical and scientific data.
  5. Training and Fieldwork:

    • Provide ongoing training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel.
    • Expect extensive travel (approximately 60%) for field-based work and serving as the local representative for global medical office functions such as Pharmacovigilance (PV) and Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR).

Qualifications:

  • Education: MD or MBBS required.

  • Experience:

    • 3-4 years of post-qualification experience in Medical Affairs.
    • Preferred experience in the pharmaceutical industry or clinical research.
    • Experience working collaboratively across functions in a matrix structure.
    • Strong ability to communicate clinical and non-clinical information to various stakeholders.
  • Skills:

    • Strong presentation, teaching, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to critically evaluate and communicate clinical data effectively.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office and other relevant technology.
