The Medical Affairs Lead at AbbVie is responsible for managing medical affairs objectives in the affiliate country, focusing on Allergan’s therapeutic areas. This role involves using medical and scientific information to engage healthcare professionals, support research initiatives, and collaborate with internal teams on various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Medical Affairs Leadership:

    • Lead medical affairs objectives and provide scientific expertise in assigned therapeutic areas.
    • Serve as a medical resource, facilitating engagement with physicians, healthcare professionals, and researchers on clinical and scientific issues relevant to Allergan products.
    • Ensure the accuracy and compliance of all medical and scientific communications.
  2. Relationship Building & Communication:

    • Develop and maintain professional relationships with thought leaders, academic institutions, and research organizations.
    • Collaborate with commercial leaders, therapeutic leads, and other departments to set priorities and business plans.
    • Present Allergan product data to healthcare professionals, including physicians and researchers, to ensure accurate and balanced information is disseminated.
  3. Support for Research and Clinical Operations:

    • Support research initiatives and contribute to clinical and medical affairs activities as requested by Allergan’s R&D, Clinical Operations, and Medical Affairs departments.
    • Participate in Round Table and Advisory Board sessions, ensuring the accuracy of scientific and clinical data discussed.
  4. Internal Training and Collaboration:

    • Provide ongoing training to the medical affairs, field sales, and other internal teams as needed.
    • Serve as the local representative for global medical functions, including Pharmacovigilance (PV), Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), etc.
  5. Travel & Fieldwork:

    • Travel extensively (approximately 60% of the time) to engage with external stakeholders and support medical activities in the field.

Qualifications:

  • Education: MD or MBBS required.

  • Experience:

    • 3-4 years of post-qualification work experience in a Medical Affairs role, ideally within the pharmaceutical industry or clinical research.
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions in a matrix structure and support multiple stakeholders.
    • Strong presentation and communication skills to effectively share complex clinical data with various audiences.
  • Skills:

    • Ability to learn quickly and convey clinical and non-clinical information to individuals with varying scientific backgrounds.
    • Strong analytical skills to critically evaluate and communicate key clinical data.
    • Familiarity with technology and systems such as Microsoft Office.
