Job Purpose:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based medical expert with in-depth knowledge of disease states, Lilly’s products, competitor compounds, and therapeutic area developments. MSLs gather strategic insights from scientific experts and share them with Lilly’s teams to guide research and development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and Communicate Scientific Knowledge:

  • Continuously update knowledge in the therapeutic area to provide accurate, evidence-based information.

  • Serve as a trusted resource for scientific experts by addressing complex medical and scientific inquiries.

2. Customer Engagement and Scientific Support:

  • Spend most of the time in the field engaging with scientific experts in 2-way dialogues.

  • Apply emotional intelligence to understand customer needs and provide tailored responses.

  • Connect scientific experts with Lilly’s resources and identify opportunities for collaborative research.

3. Strategic Vision and Leadership:

  • Synthesize and communicate meaningful clinical insights to Lilly’s internal teams.

  • Use problem-solving skills to implement innovative solutions and contribute to medical planning.

4. Territory Ownership:

  • Develop and execute a strategic territory plan with a focus on core activities.

  • Maintain compliance with internal and external regulatory standards while demonstrating good judgment.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

Education:

  • Advanced degree in health sciences (PharmD, MD, PhD in a medically related field).

  • Preference for candidates with a Medical Degree and/or relevant therapy area experience.

Experience:

  • Prior MSL or field-based experience engaging with Scientific Experts and Key Opinion Leaders preferred.

  • Proven ability to address complex customer information needs.

  • Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, and medical education processes is highly valued.

Desired Skills:

  • Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time within the country, including some weekends.

  • Intellectual curiosity and agility to understand and communicate complex scientific content.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

  • Advanced presentation and computer skills with expertise in literature review.

  • Strong analytical, strategic, and critical thinking abilities.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • High emotional intelligence, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
