The Clinical, Medical and Regulatory (CMR) department at Novo Nordisk focuses on:

Position Overview

The Medical Liaison (ML) builds strong scientific relationships with healthcare providers, demonstrating the clinical benefits of Novo Nordisk products in obesity and liver health. The role involves:

  • Educating HCPs

  • Providing scientific/medical support

  • Supporting clinical trials

  • Acting as a scientific liaison between NNI and key external stakeholders

  • Executing field medical strategies in alignment with business and scientific priorities

The ML collaborates with multiple internal teams and develops regional medical plans under guidance of the Field Director.


Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Field Director / Senior Field Director

  • Internal Partners:

    • Medical Liaison teams

    • Clinicians & Marketing

    • Market Access & Government

    • Sales teams

  • External Partners:

    • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)

    • Academic institutions

    • Physicians, NPs, diabetes educators

    • Pharmacists, blood bank staff

    • IDNs and Managed Care Organizations


Essential Functions

1. Administrative Duties

  • Complete documentation and reports as per SOPs

  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and internal policies

  • Manage regional business operations and budgets

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of company procedures

  • Submit monthly scientific activity reports

  • Log all activities in CRM systems (e.g., Veeva)

  • Submit expenses via Concur

2. Advocacy & Professional Relationship Development

  • Attend medical/scientific meetings to stay updated on data and trends

  • Build and maintain relationships with HCPs, IHNs, and KOLs

  • Support appropriate use of NNI products and services

  • Assist Sales and Managers with scientific inquiries

  • Combine scientific knowledge with business acumen to create impactful collaborations

  • Develop medical account strategies and identify partnership opportunities

3. Field-Based Clinical Support

  • Partner with HEOR team to present scientific value to customers and formulary committees

  • Support Marketing and Sales by informing scientific strategy

  • Collaborate with clinical trial sites for smooth study operations, investigator support, and recruitment

  • Coordinate with regional field medical teams for unified scientific coverage

  • Deliver tailored clinical education across IHNs and manage professional relationships

  • Provide scientific education to executives, medical directors, and formulary decision makers

  • Prepare and present approved scientific/product updates


Physical Requirements

  • Travel: 50–75% overnight

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license

  • Must meet Novo Nordisk’s safe driving criteria


Qualifications

Required

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, etc.)

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a healthcare system, pharmaceutical company, or managed care environment

  • Strong communication skills

Preferred

  • Relevant therapeutic/clinical experience

  • Business experience (e.g., involvement in formulary decisions)

  • Extensive experience in diabetes

  • Experience presenting complex scientific/medical concepts
