Position Overview

This is a field-based scientific liaison role connecting Novo Nordisk with external clinical stakeholders. Responsibilities include:

  • Building scientific relationships

  • Communicating clinical value of NN products

  • Providing medical education

  • Coordinating scientific events

  • Supporting clinical trial sites

The ML acts as a strategic scientific partner across Medical, Marketing, Sales, Market Access, Government Affairs, and Managed Care.


Reporting & Relationships

  • Reports to: Field Director / Senior Field Director

  • Internal Interaction: ML teams, clinicians, marketing, market access, sales

  • External Interaction:

    • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)

    • Physicians, NPs, pharmacists, diabetes educators

    • Academic institutions

    • Integrated healthcare networks (IHNs)

    • Managed care organizations (MCOs)


Key Responsibilities

1. Administrative Duties

  • Complete administrative work per SOPs and compliance requirements

  • Manage regional budgets effectively

  • Maintain strong understanding of NN procedures

  • Support fellow Field Medical Affairs (FMA) members

  • Submit monthly scientific activity reports

  • Document all activities in systems (e.g., VEEVA, Concur)


2. Advocacy & Professional Relationship Development

  • Attend medical & scientific meetings

  • Stay updated on latest clinical data

  • Build and strengthen relationships with HCPs and IHNs

  • Support field teams with scientific responses

  • Use business acumen + clinical expertise for effective account management

  • Develop territory medical account plans

  • Identify collaboration opportunities


3. Field-Based Clinical Support

  • Partner with HEOR team to deliver value-based presentations

  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing for scientific strategy

  • Support study sites with coordination, education, recruitment assistance

  • Provide feedback to sites and internal teams

  • Ensure comprehensive medical coverage with regional FMA team

  • Conduct system-wide clinical education within IHNs

  • Educate decision-makers for formulary access

  • Present product & scientific updates (using approved materials)


Physical Requirements

  • 50–75% overnight travel

  • Valid driver’s license with compliance to NN driving standards


Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (required)

  • 2+ years experience in healthcare, pharma, or managed care

  • Clinical/therapeutic experience (preferred)

  • Business acumen in formulary decision processes

  • Strong background in diabetes (strongly preferred)

  • Excellent communication skills
