Job Title: Medical Lead – Hematology-Oncology

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Role Overview:
Takeda Oncology is seeking a strategic and experienced Medical Lead to drive medical excellence and execution of medical strategies in the Hematology-Oncology therapeutic area. This role partners with the Oncology Medical Director to align Medical Plans with brand, global, and local objectives, ensuring scientific integrity, regulatory compliance, and impactful engagement with external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Medical Director in developing and implementing therapeutic area strategies, ensuring alignment across Medical Plan, Brand Plan, and organizational objectives.

  • Strategically implement Medical Plans, including advisory boards, congress participation, educational programs, and external engagement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Sales, Patient Access, Government Affairs, Global Medical Affairs) to align medical and scientific strategies.

  • Provide oversight of medical and scientific content, including medical information, publications, congress support, and clinical trial initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with Takeda policies, SOPs, and relevant regulations for all scientific and promotional materials.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with national opinion leaders and healthcare professionals in hematology-oncology.

  • Deliver actionable medical insights to internal teams to inform business and clinical strategies.

  • Lead local clinical trial initiatives within the Hematology-Oncology therapeutic area.

  • Stay current on external developments, product pipelines, and scientific literature relevant to hematology-oncology.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Advanced degree in Health Sciences, MD, PharmD, or PhD.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant pharmaceutical, clinical, or scientific experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities in Medical Affairs.

  • Proven therapeutic expertise in hematology-oncology preferred.

  • Experience in matrix project leadership, strategic planning, and operational execution of medical strategies.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in medical affairs.

  • Excellent scientific communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience with digital collaboration tools, AI applications, and remote work environments.

  • Bilingual in English/French is a strong asset.
