Position Overview

The Medical Information Specialist (MIS) will be a part of the ProPharma Medical Information Contact Center. The role involves responding to unsolicited medical and safety inquiries and ensuring proper documentation of adverse events, product complaints, and special situation events as per industry regulations, client policies, and internal procedures.


Key Responsibilities

Medical Information Service Delivery:

  • Respond to inquiries from healthcare professionals, consumers, and other external customers via telephone, email, website, letter, or at scientific meetings.
  • Provide both labeled and unlabeled medical and safety information in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Accurately document and report adverse events, pregnancy reports, special situations, and product complaints following ProPharma SOPs and client requirements.
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks in accordance with documented deadlines.
  • Formulate medical responses based on approved labeling, published literature, and other data sources.
  • Log all inquiries into the Inquiry Handling System, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Quality Assurance:

  • Maintain high-quality standards in all areas of work, including performing quality checks on adverse events, product complaints, and inquiries.

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide after-hours coverage on a rotating basis, based on business needs.
  • Adhere to privacy policies and data protection regulations as per ProPharma SOPs.
  • Comply with health and safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Nursing degree (RN/BS/BA/MS) or equivalent.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional telephone etiquette and empathetic customer service.
  • Ability to write clear and grammatically correct responses.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and industry regulations.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical abilities, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, able to work under time constraints.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to other computer systems, including inquiry handling databases.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and continuously improve.
