Job Description

Takeda is seeking an experienced Medical Director for their GI2 TAU clinical science division. This pivotal role will drive the drug development process in India and collaborate with various cross-functional teams within the Asia-Pacific region. The Medical Director will be responsible for overseeing the clinical development strategy and execution for Takeda's GI2 pipeline compounds, from development to local registration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Local Clinical Development Strategy: Lead and drive local clinical development plans and strategy for GI2 pipeline assets, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, proactive identification of challenges, and contingency planning.

  • Clinical Development Leadership: Make high-impact decisions based on clinical and scientific expertise, interpreting data from ongoing studies, and making recommendations regarding timelines or study design modifications.

  • Protocol and Study Execution: Oversee the preparation of study synopses, protocols, and the conduct of clinical studies. Accountable for successful study design, execution, and interpretation.

  • Medical Monitoring: Provide support for booster enrollment activities and ensure medical monitoring of clinical trials. Assess protocol compliance and subject safety.

  • External Collaboration: Manage interactions with local regulatory agencies and KOLs. Collaborate with academia and the local development network to advance drug development.

  • Leadership and Influence: Influence internal stakeholders, ensuring that clinical science informs decision-making. Lead and mentor local team members and create a collaborative environment to increase team capability and efficiency.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Education: MD or internationally recognized equivalent.

  • Experience: Minimum 15 years in clinical practice or research with direct experience in GI2 therapy pharmaceutical development, or a related field.

  • Previous leadership experience in managing clinical development teams in India is required. Experience in other Asia regions is a plus.

  • Fluent in English and Indian languages.

  • Experience with NDA/MAA/Submission processes preferred.

  • Expertise in clinical development within the GI2 therapy area.
