Job Summary:

ICON plc, a global leader in healthcare intelligence and clinical research, is seeking an experienced Medical Director – Pulmonology to join its US-based team. This remote opportunity is ideal for Board-Certified Pulmonologists with a strong clinical background and experience in clinical research or the pharmaceutical/CRO industry. You will provide expert medical leadership on projects, drive medical strategy, and support business development initiatives across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic medical guidance on clinical projects across multiple therapeutic areas.

  • Offer scientific and clinical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure medical and safety monitoring activities align with regulatory and ethical standards.

  • Represent the Medical Affairs department in internal and external business development efforts.

  • Offer operational support within Medical Affairs as needed.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in Pulmonology.

  • Board Certification in Pulmonology is mandatory.

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice as a Pulmonologist.

  • At least 2 years of experience in clinical research (academia, pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO).

  • Strong understanding of GCP, ICH, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for sponsor and site interaction.

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% (as needed).

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Fully remote role based in the USA.
