Job Overview

The Associate Medical Director / Medical Director – Neurology provides medical, clinical, and scientific advisory expertise across all IQVIA divisions. This role includes substantial Medical Monitoring responsibilities along with Medical Strategic input to support business development and clinical trial success.


Key Responsibilities

1. Medical Monitoring

  • Serve as Global and/or Regional Medical Advisor on assigned neurology projects.

  • Provide scientific and medical guidance to Project Leaders and cross-functional teams.

  • Offer medical support to investigative sites regarding protocol clarifications, patient eligibility, and safety issues.

  • Review clinical documentation, including protocols, Investigator’s Brochures (IBs), and Case Report Forms (CRFs).

  • Deliver therapeutic area training to project teams and present at Investigator Meetings.

  • Conduct medical review and clarification of Adverse Events (AEs) and Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) in collaboration with Pharmacovigilance.

  • Support the Analysis of Similar Events (AOSE) process and adverse event coding reviews.

  • Participate in the review of Clinical Study Reports (CSRs) and patient narratives.

  • Attend project Kick-Off, team, and client meetings as required.

  • Remain available on-call (24/7) for urgent site-related medical queries in accordance with local labor laws.

2. Medical Strategy

  • Provide strategic medical input to design and delivery strategies for complex, multi-region clinical studies.

  • Contribute to the medical components of client proposals, including budget planning for medical monitoring.

  • Advise on protocol feasibility, investigator/site selection, recruitment strategies, and standard-of-care considerations.

  • Represent IQVIA in bid defense meetings and business development presentations.

  • Support internal stakeholders with medical and scientific insights for client proposals and operational planning.

  • Maintain awareness of emerging industry trends, scientific advancements, and regulatory changes within neurology.

  • Author or contribute to scientific publications and presentations.

  • Undertake regional and international travel as needed.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Medical Degree (MD) from an accredited and internationally recognized institution.

  • Specialty Board Certification in Neurology required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice in medicine.

  • At least 2 years of clinical trial experience as an investigator or medical expert within the Pharma, Biotech, or CRO sectors.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of the scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial aspects of neurology drug development.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).

  • Proven ability to provide medical consultation, strategic insight, and multi-project support.

  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and capability to collaborate across diverse teams.
