Position Overview

The Medical Assistant Lead at TX 101 Cornerstone Peds will support the Practice Manager in overseeing daily clinical operations in a small to medium-sized pediatric office. This role is vital to ensuring that Medical Assistants perform high-quality, team-based patient care and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in training, developing, and evaluating the Medical Assistant team.
  • Monitor office compliance with infection prevention programs, medication management, vaccine cold chain handling, and clinical supply levels.
  • Maintain high-quality patient experience by ensuring a safe and clean environment.
  • Perform patient intake, including vitals and history, and document any abnormal findings.
  • Prepare patients for clinician exams and assist with age-appropriate screenings, procedures, and emergency responses.
  • Administer vaccines and medications, ensure accurate records, and provide patient education.
  • Adhere to proper vaccine cold chain management and medication administration procedures.
  • Complete follow-up tasks, handle correspondence, manage referrals, and assist with forms and prescriptions.
  • Proficient in laboratory services, including phlebotomy, lab sample collection, and quality controls.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the Medical Assistant team, assisting with performance evaluations.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor of Science in General Medicine (for foreign-trained doctors).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting; 2 years in a Pediatric Assistant role preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • MA Diploma/Certification required, or 3 years of MA experience in lieu of certification.
    • MA Certification preferred.
    • Active BLS certification required.
