Job Summary:

The Medical Affairs Professional (MAP) is a therapeutically aligned Clinical Scientist who plays a key role within the Medical Affairs organization. The primary responsibility of this role is to apply scientific expertise to deliver strategic and tactical insights across the life cycle of products, while contributing to planning, implementation, and ensuring compliance. This position is central to the successful collaboration with cross-functional teams, including the Brand team, to address customer needs and business objectives.

Main Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Scientific Expertise & Medical Affairs Delivery:

  • Develop and contribute to the affiliate or therapeutic area medical strategy and plans, in collaboration with Clinical Research Physicians (CRPs).
  • Lead or support data analysis, presentations, and the development of publications (abstracts, posters, manuscripts).
  • Work alongside other Medical Affairs roles (CRP, CRS, MSL, etc.) to deliver superior customer experiences through medical education initiatives, utilizing omnichannel engagement tools where applicable.
  • Collaborate with field medical teams (MSLs) in generating insights about patient journeys, treatment patterns, and unmet needs.
  • Support CRP in executing data generation plans in alignment with business objectives.
  • Create and review local medical information letters in partnership with the Medical Information function.
  • Contribute to Scientific Data Disclosure (SDD) plans and ensure adherence to compliance standards.
  • Stay current on relevant medical literature, trends, and advancements in the therapeutic area.

Cross-functional Team Collaboration:

  • Serve as the primary medical point of contact within the cross-functional team, providing clinical, scientific, and strategic input to support business needs.
  • Contribute to the development of brand medical strategies and plan executions, providing medical launch support.
  • Support the development, review, and approval of promotional materials for the brand team, ensuring alignment with medical standards.
  • Oversee local Patient Support Programs and contribute to the training of internal business partners such as Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Analyze customer data to identify insights, raise potential challenges, and proactively engage with relevant stakeholders to address issues.
  • Lead and support the planning and execution of advisory boards, symposia, scientific exchange, and educational events with healthcare professionals (HCPs).

Customer Engagement & Experience:

  • Respond to external customer inquiries, including escalations from Medical Information and Sales, in line with company guidelines for responding to unsolicited requests.
  • Lead efforts in Thought Leader engagement, speaker training, and maintenance of relationships with professional societies.
  • Deliver scientific and educational content, participating in meetings organized by commercial teams (virtual or in-person).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in customer engagement, especially through digital innovations.
  • Take a leadership role in ensuring positive customer experiences in all medical interactions.

Collaboration with Regulatory:

  • Collaborate with CRPs and cross-functional teams in developing and reviewing local product labeling, ensuring compliance with local and global regulations.
  • Support the regulatory team in preparing regulatory reports, advisory committee presentations, and label discussions.
  • Participate in health authority meetings as a medical expert on the therapeutic area, and assist in managing regulatory issues.
  • Contribute to risk management planning alongside CRPs, global development teams, business units, and Global Patient Safety (GPS).

Professional Development:

  • Stay current with ongoing training and development to ensure continuous professional growth.
  • Meet objectives outlined in personal development plans (myPM) and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Basic Education & Experience:

  • Core: Degree in medicine or a related field (MBBS, or PhD in medically related field).
  • Desired: MD in clinical or non-clinical subjects.
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in a medical/scientific role within a relevant therapeutic area.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership abilities and proven success in cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific data for various audiences.
  • High level of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage a heavy workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as both an individual contributor and a team player.
  • Ability to anticipate challenges and proactively find solutions for complex medical issues.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
