Job Summary:
The Medical Affairs Professional (MAP) is a therapeutically aligned Clinical Scientist who plays a vital role within the Medical Affairs organization. This position focuses on providing scientific expertise and strategic guidance to support medical activities, ensuring compliance with regulations and Lilly policies, and contributing to cross-functional collaboration with brand teams. The MAP plays a critical role in delivering strategic planning, medical education, data analysis, and insight generation to drive customer engagement and ensure scientific excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scientific Expertise and Medical Affairs Delivery:

    • Develop and contribute to the affiliate’s therapeutic area medical plan and strategy.
    • Lead or support data analysis, publications, and slide presentations.
    • Collaborate with Medical Affairs colleagues to deliver medical education and engagement initiatives.
    • Contribute to insight generation within the disease area, focusing on patient journeys, treatment patterns, and unmet needs.
    • Create and review local and regional medical information letters.
    • Stay current on scientific developments in the therapeutic area.
  • Cross-functional Team Collaboration:

    • Serve as the primary medical contact for cross-functional teams, including brand teams.
    • Contribute clinical and scientific input to support brand planning and execution.
    • Review and contribute to promotional materials and local medical materials for the brand.
    • Provide scientific training for internal teams, including sales and marketing.
    • Plan and support scientific events such as symposia, advisory boards, and educational meetings.
  • Customer Engagement and Experience:

    • Respond to external customer questions, including escalations by Med Info and Sales.
    • Coordinate local engagement activities with Thought Leaders.
    • Lead medical activities to improve customer experiences, including speaker training and education events.
    • Collaborate with commercial teams to enhance digital engagement strategies.
  • Collaboration with Regulatory:

    • Support the development and review of local product labeling.
    • Provide medical expertise to the regulatory team and assist in preparing regulatory reports.
    • Participate in health authority meetings and risk management planning.
  • Professional Development:

    • Stay up to date with professional training and complete company processes.
    • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Key Relationships:

  • Internal: Marketing, Clinical Research Physicians, Regional/Global Medical Teams, Regulatory & Clinical Teams.
  • External: Scientific Experts, Physicians/HCPs, Medical Societies.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

  • Core Qualifications:

    • Degree in medicine or a medically related field (MBBS, MD, or PhD).
    • At least 2 years of experience in a medical or scientific role within the relevant therapeutic area.
    • Knowledge of the healthcare industry and customer engagement.
    • Proven ability to collaborate across functions (Marketing, Regulatory, etc.).
    • Experience in working independently and in teams.
  • Desired Qualifications:

    • 2-3 years of clinical practice experience.
  • Core Skills:

    • Strong leadership and influencing abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • High learning agility and ability to comprehend complex scientific data.
    • Strong problem-solving capabilities and proactive issue resolution.
    • Proficiency in English and customer communication.
  • Other Requirements:

    • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
    • Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed.
