Position Overview:

Abbott is recruiting a Medical Affairs Manager for the Vascular Division in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region. Based at Abbott's EMEA Headquarters in Diegem, Belgium, this role will be a key point of contact between Abbott Vascular and physicians, focusing on the scientific and medical aspects of Abbott's endovascular therapies and products.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Medical Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact between Abbott Vascular and healthcare professionals, providing expertise on scientific and medical aspects of endovascular therapies and products (e.g., stents, thrombectomy, vessel closure, diabetic foot management, drug-eluting resorbable scaffolds, orbital atherectomy).
    • Establish and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), medical societies, and other external medical stakeholders to support the adoption and scientific development of new therapies and concepts.
  • Scientific Communication & Educational Programs:

    • Develop and manage medical advisory boards, medical forums, and symposia at congresses and other international events.
    • Support medical education programs by assisting in agenda development and faculty management.
    • Collaborate with commercial teams to provide medical training, both pre- and post-congresses.
  • Collaboration Across Internal Teams:

    • Collaborate with the EMEA Medical team, marketing teams, and other internal stakeholders to ensure the effective communication and positioning of relevant scientific data.
    • Support the development of advertising and promotional materials, ensuring they meet medical and scientific standards, and act as a reviewer for such materials.
  • Study & Safety Oversight:

    • Oversee ongoing and upcoming Investigator-Initiated Studies (ISS), providing input and reviewing submissions.
    • Take responsibility for addressing patient safety issues referred to Medical Affairs, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
  • Regional Responsibility:

    • Serve as the local Medical Affairs contact for the Benelux region (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), taking responsibility for endovascular-related issues and opportunities within these countries.

Skills and Experience:

  • Educational Requirements:

    • MD, Biomedical, or scientific university degree (e.g., Biology, Pharmacology) or Registered Nurse.
  • Key Skills & Expertise:

    • Strong scientific expertise with a deep understanding of the endovascular therapeutic field.
    • Knowledge of Medical Affairs, Medical Science, and Clinical Affairs.
    • Expertise in clinical studies and medical affairs processes.
    • Proven project management skills.
    • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to analyze complex data and derive actionable insights.
    • Strong customer orientation and the ability to build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to work.
  • Language Skills:

    • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
