🎯 Job Purpose

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert responsible for:

  • Deep scientific engagement in Neuroscience therapeutic areas

  • Providing high-quality medical/scientific information to external experts

  • Identifying insights to guide Lilly’s research and strategy

  • Facilitating scientific exchange between the company and scientific community


🧠 Key Responsibilities

1. Scientific Expertise

  • Maintain deep, up-to-date knowledge of:

    • Neuroscience disease states

    • Lilly and competitor products

    • Emerging scientific and clinical trends

  • Answer complex scientific/medical questions with accuracy and credibility

  • Become a trusted scientific resource for external stakeholders


2. Customer Engagement & Scientific Exchange

  • Conduct field-based interactions with scientific experts (SEs) and KOLs

  • Engage in meaningful two-way scientific dialogues

  • Provide detailed disease-state and product information

  • Connect experts to Lilly’s internal teams and resources

  • Identify potential research collaborations or external partnerships


3. Strategic Insight Generation & Leadership

  • Collect, interpret, and communicate insights from scientific experts

  • Share insights with cross-functional and medical teams for strategic planning

  • Identify unmet medical needs and support scientific problem-solving

  • Contribute to affiliate-level medical strategy


4. Territory Management

  • Base location options: Mumbai / Bengaluru / Chennai / Hyderabad

  • Develop & execute a strategic territory plan

  • Prioritize activities to maximize scientific impact

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulations, and laws

  • Take ownership and accountability for territory performance


🎓 Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in health sciences:

    • MBBS / MD / PhD (medical field preferred)

  • Strong preference for:

    • Medical degree

    • Prior neuroscience therapy area experience

Required Experience

  • Previous MSL experience or field-based scientific engagement

  • Experience interacting with:

    • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)

    • Scientific Experts

  • Experience providing complex scientific information

  • Strong professional networking track record

  • Understanding of:

    • Healthcare systems

    • Academic medical research

    • Medical education processes

  • Ability to travel up to 80%, mainly southern & western India

  • Comfort working on some weekends

  • High scientific curiosity and passion for neuroscience

  • Strong learning agility for understanding complex scientific content
