Job Summary

The Manager – Medical Affairs is a core scientific role responsible for leading medical strategy and external scientific engagement within the Cardiovascular-Metabolic franchise.

The role acts as:

  • Primary scientific representative to Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)

  • Medical strategy contributor for therapy areas

  • Driver of medical education and evidence generation

  • Cross-functional partner for marketing, sales, and regulatory teams


Key Responsibilities

1. External Scientific Engagement

  • Act as the primary scientific face of the organization for:

    • Physicians

    • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)

  • Identify, map, and continuously profile thought leaders across geography and therapy area

  • Build and maintain scientific relationships aligned with strategic objectives

  • Execute engagement plans including:

    • Advisory boards

    • Medical education programs

    • Product education initiatives

    • Pre-license activities

    • Special scientific projects

  • Deliver scientific presentations on company products (including therapeutic discussions in CV-metabolic space and dermatology references where applicable)

  • Monitor and report:

    • Clinical trends

    • Treatment patterns

    • Emerging scientific developments


2. Medical Strategy & Evidence Generation

  • Execute medical affairs strategic plans for assigned therapy area

  • Convert KOL insights into actionable strategies for:

    • Therapy area development

    • Product positioning

    • Scientific communication plans

  • Support evidence generation initiatives such as:

    • Clinical insights programs

    • Real-world evidence (RWE) projects

    • Scientific publications (as applicable)

  • Conduct medical evaluation of new products through:

    • Desk research

    • KOL interactions


3. Internal Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with:

    • Marketing

    • Sales

    • Regulatory teams

  • Support development of:

    • Training programs for field teams

    • Medical updates for commercial teams

  • Ensure alignment between:

    • Medical strategy

    • Commercial objectives

    • Patient outcome goals

  • Provide scientific input for organizational decision-making


4. Scientific Communication & Query Management

  • Respond to scientific queries from:

    • Healthcare professionals (HCPs)

    • Internal stakeholders

  • Handle complex medical and product-related questions

  • Ensure accurate, balanced, and compliant scientific communication

  • Represent organization in internal and external scientific platforms


5. Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all promotional and scientific materials:

    • Are scientifically accurate

    • Are approved within defined timelines

    • Follow internal approval processes

  • Maintain compliance with organizational medical and regulatory standards


Experience Requirements

  • ~4 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry or research organization

  • Prior roles such as:

    • Regional Medical Advisor, or

    • Head Office Medical Advisor

  • Preferred therapy area exposure:

    • Cardiovascular diseases

    • Metabolic disorders / diabetes

    • Nephrology

  • Experience in:

    • Evidence generation (preferred)

    • Medical strategy execution

    • Complex stakeholder environments

    • Peer-to-peer scientific engagement with specialists


Educational Qualification

  • Registered Medical Doctor (MBBS)

  • Post-graduate qualification (MD/MS or equivalent)
