Job Overview

A senior strategic opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Manager – Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical medical affairs domain. This role is ideal for highly accomplished medical and scientific professionals with expertise in medical strategy, KOL engagement, evidence generation, scientific communication, medical education, cross-functional leadership, and therapeutic area development.

The selected candidate will serve as a core scientific leader responsible for enabling Sun Pharma’s branded portfolio across emerging markets through strategic medical affairs execution, scientific stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based therapeutic leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Affairs Leadership & Strategic Scientific Enablement

  • Serve as a core scientific member of the cross-functional franchise leadership team
  • Drive scientific enablement for Sun Pharma’s branded pharmaceutical portfolio
  • Develop and execute strategic medical affairs plans aligned with business and therapeutic objectives
  • Support portfolio growth through scientific leadership and evidence-driven medical initiatives

External Scientific Engagement

KOL & Thought Leader Management

  • Identify, map, profile, and engage Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), thought leaders, and specialist physicians across assigned therapy areas
  • Build strong peer-to-peer scientific relationships with healthcare experts
  • Drive strategic KOL engagement aligned with broader medical and business objectives
  • Translate clinical insights from physician engagement into actionable therapeutic and portfolio strategies

Scientific Communication & HCP Engagement

  • Act as the primary scientific representative of the organization to physicians and external stakeholders
  • Deliver high-impact scientific presentations and evidence-based medical discussions
  • Communicate balanced, compliant, and accurate scientific information regarding company products
  • Engage healthcare professionals proactively and reactively on:
    • Clinical evidence
    • Product science
    • Treatment trends
    • Disease management practices
    • Emerging therapeutic opportunities

Therapeutic Area Intelligence

  • Monitor emerging scientific literature, treatment guidelines, and disease trends
  • Track evolving clinical developments and competitive therapeutic insights
  • Identify unmet medical needs and opportunities to shape therapy areas of strategic interest

Evidence Generation & Medical Initiatives
Lead and support strategic medical initiatives including:

  • Medical education programs
  • Product education activities
  • Advisory board execution
  • Evidence generation projects
  • Special scientific projects
  • Pre-license scientific evaluations
  • KOL-led insight programs

Internal Cross-Functional Leadership

Collaborate closely with:

  • Marketing teams
  • Sales leadership
  • Regulatory affairs

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting cross-functional scientific initiatives
  • Translating medical insights into commercial strategy support

Training & Scientific Capability Building

  • Design and execute scientific training programs for:

  • Ensure teams remain updated on:
    • Latest medical developments

    • Disease area advancements
    • Clinical evidence trends

Medical Review & Governance

  • Review and support approval of promotional materials within established timelines
  • Ensure compliance with internal approval processes and scientific accuracy standards
  • Conduct rigorous medical evaluation of new products through:
    • Scientific desk research
    • Literature review
    • Expert consultations
    • KOL interactions

Scientific Information Management

  • Receive, evaluate, and respond to scientific information requests from:
    • Physicians
    • Internal stakeholders
    • Commercial teams
  • Handle complex scientific and medical queries related to products or therapeutic areas with high credibility

Scientific Representation

  • Represent the organization at:
    • Scientific meetings
    • Medical conferences
    • Advisory forums
    • Internal strategy platforms
    • External healthcare engagement events

Required Qualifications

Educational Qualifications
Candidates are typically expected to hold qualifications in:
