Job Overview

ICON plc, a globally recognized healthcare intelligence and clinical research organization, is seeking an experienced Manager, Clinical Systems to lead the strategic implementation, optimization, and governance of clinical systems supporting global clinical trials. This role plays a critical part in ensuring system efficiency, data integrity, and regulatory compliance across the clinical development lifecycle.

The Manager, Clinical Systems will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver robust technology solutions that enable high-quality data collection, reporting, and trial execution.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Systems Leadership

  • Lead the design, implementation, configuration, and ongoing optimization of clinical systems supporting clinical trial operations.

  • Ensure clinical systems align with study objectives, operational needs, and regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with clinical operations, data management, biostatistics, IT, and external vendors to gather system requirements and deliver scalable solutions.

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and technology partners to support system initiatives and enhancements.

System Performance & Compliance

  • Monitor system performance, conduct periodic assessments, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, usability, and data quality.

  • Ensure systems comply with global regulatory standards, including ICH-GCP, 21 CFR Part 11, and relevant data protection requirements.

Team Leadership & Enablement

  • Provide leadership, training, and ongoing support to users and system teams to promote system proficiency, accountability, and best practices.

  • Support change management initiatives related to system upgrades and process improvements.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Clinical Research, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

  • 8–12 years of experience in clinical systems management, clinical technology, or related roles within a CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology organization.

  • Proven experience managing enterprise-level clinical systems and technology platforms.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of clinical trial systems such as EDC, CTMS, eTMF, RTSM, and clinical data platforms.

  • Experience optimizing system workflows, user experience, and data integrity.

  • Solid understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks governing clinical systems.
