Job Overview

Amgen is seeking an experienced Manager – Clinical Delivery Services (CDS) to lead and develop high-performing clinical delivery teams supporting global clinical programs. This role is critical in ensuring operational excellence, people leadership, resource planning, and compliance across multiple clinical studies.

The ideal candidate will bring strong people management, clinical execution, and resource allocation experience, with the ability to drive continuous improvement while maintaining the highest quality and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Hire, onboard, mentor, and develop Study Delivery Associates and Senior Associates

  • Partner with R&D Training to ensure robust onboarding and continuous capability development

  • Provide regular coaching, performance feedback, and career development support

  • Proactively manage team risks, including attrition, performance challenges, and capacity planning

  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and growth-oriented team culture


Resource Allocation & Program Support

  • Collaborate with Resource Points of Contact to ensure optimal deployment of team members

  • Align resources based on skills, experience, and program workload demands

  • Monitor capacity trends and proactively address resourcing or skill gaps

  • Ensure team readiness and role clarity across assigned clinical programs


Capability Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify gaps in processes, tools, or competencies and implement targeted improvement initiatives

  • Promote knowledge sharing and best practice adoption across the team

  • Encourage innovation to improve operational efficiency and study delivery outcomes


Stakeholder Engagement & Escalation Management

  • Act as the primary escalation point for performance or delivery issues related to CDS team members

  • Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders across Clinical Operations, Development, and Functional Leadership

  • Ensure alignment between team development strategies and broader business objectives


Quality, Compliance & Inspection Readiness

  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, regulatory requirements, and quality standards

  • Support audit and health authority inspection readiness

  • Develop and track team oversight metrics, addressing risks and issues promptly

  • Support implementation of risk-based approaches and CAPA where required


Resource Management Support

  • Provide support to the SDRM Resource Management team, including:

    • Hiring and workforce planning

    • Allocation and forecasting analysis

    • Resource optimization for in-scope clinical roles


Education & Experience Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree OR

  • Master’s degree with 8+ years of clinical execution experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of clinical execution experience

Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years in the life sciences industry, with a strong focus on clinical trials

  • 3+ years of clinical research experience within a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company

  • Proven experience managing multiple teams or direct reports across clinical functions

  • Expertise in clinical trial execution, drug development processes, and operational delivery

  • Experience overseeing study budgets, site payments, and resource optimization

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across global, cross-functional teams

  • Experience with risk-based monitoring, CAPA implementation, and inspection readiness

  • Experience training and supporting CRAs, site staff, and cross-functional study teams
