Role Summary

The Lead Lab Support Specialist oversees the daily workflow and performance of a small onsite team to deliver consistent lab operations services. This hands-on role ensures compliance, customer satisfaction, team coordination, and continuous process improvement across lab services including inventory, procurement, material handling, and support operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of onsite lab specialists and manage the full employee lifecycle

  • Ensure compliance with contractual scope and performance metrics

  • Serve as the point of contact between Thermo Fisher and the customer

  • Coordinate vendor and client visits, and support safety audits

  • Maintain operational standards, SOPs, and conduct internal audits

  • Identify and drive continuous improvement using PPI methodology

  • Provide reporting on inventory, staff performance, and workflow metrics


Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 3+ years of relevant lab operations or support experience

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Physical ability to lift/push/pull 30–50 lbs; prolonged standing/walking

  • Comfortable working around allergens, chemicals, and PPE requirements

Preferred

  • Associate degree or military training in lieu of degree

  • Experience in cGMP/GxP environments

  • IATA/DOT hazardous materials certification

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and raw materials inventory management

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and warehouse safety protocols


Work Environment

  • Cleanroom, warehouse, cold room/freezer, and standard lab settings

  • Exposure to strong odors, hazardous materials, and noise

  • PPE and compliance with GMP required

  • Some work at heights or in varied temperature environments
