Job Summary

Abbott is seeking an experienced Lead Data Scientist for its Alameda, CA facility in the Medical Devices division. The role focuses on postmarket surveillance, product tracking, trending analysis, and driving data-centric quality improvements for life-saving healthcare products. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly tracking and trending activities for postmarket surveillance.

  • Define project goals, milestones, and ensure timely completion.

  • Provide data-driven solutions for complex quality issues.

  • Collaborate across functional teams for project execution.

  • Offer guidance, training, and oversight to QA professionals and contractors.

  • Implement and monitor quality systems ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and validation processes.

  • Document all activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.

  • Utilize analytics and data modeling for complaint trend investigations.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of quality assurance, data science, or related field experience.

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) may substitute for some experience.

  • Expertise in quality systems (FDA, ISO standards) within the healthcare industry.

  • Proficient in statistical analysis, data interpretation, and risk evaluation.

  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.

  • Ability to lead projects in a cross-functional environment.

  • Preferred: Prior healthcare or medical devices industry experience.
