Role Overview

AbbVie is seeking a Key Account Specialist to lead strategic engagement with key healthcare providers and payers in Visakhapatnam. This role is designed for professionals with a strong track record in pharmaceutical or biotech sales, consultative selling, and key account management. The successful candidate will build trusted partnerships, optimize product access, and drive long-term business growth through strategic account planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Account Management

  • Develop a deep understanding of key account decision-making processes, payer/provider needs, and influence networks.

  • Provide actionable insights to brand teams to ensure holistic key account analyses.

  • Identify cross-functional impacts of market or policy changes and communicate effectively to internal teams.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Development

  • Build and maintain strategic, trusted relationships with payers, providers, and key influencers.

  • Anticipate access barriers and align account strategies to support business and patient outcomes.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to implement “win-win” partnerships that optimize product access and market penetration.

Contracting, Tendering & Commercial Execution

  • Lead or support contracting and tendering processes, ensuring compliance and alignment with profitability goals.

  • Develop account-specific engagement plans with measurable objectives to optimize funding, usage, and access to AbbVie products.

  • Monitor account performance and execution impact, recommending adjustments to maximize commercial results.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Coordinate and motivate cross-functional in-field teams to deliver account objectives.

  • Translate strategic goals into actionable, realistic engagement plans.

  • Drive continuous improvement through data-driven insights and market feedback.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience:

  • 5–8 years of demonstrated success in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical aesthetics sales or key account management.

  • Proven ability to manage complex accounts, influence multi-stakeholder decision-making, and execute contracts or tender agreements.

  • Experience in strategic and tactical account planning, with knowledge of local payer/provider systems.

  • Leadership experience in guiding cross-functional teams and implementing key account strategies is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, business planning, and financial acumen.

  • In-depth understanding of payer/provider mindset, decision-making, and influence networks.

  • Excellent negotiation, influencing, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to translate strategies into actionable engagement plans and measurable outcomes.

  • Proficiency in English; additional local language skills are a plus.
