Job Overview
The Junior Technical Configurator – LabVantage LIMS supports the configuration, maintenance, and technical operations of the LabVantage Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This role assists Quality Control laboratories by supporting system configuration, maintaining master data, ensuring compliance with validation standards, and assisting with integrations between laboratory and enterprise systems.

This entry-level technical role focuses on learning LabVantage configuration practices while supporting system maintenance, troubleshooting, and validation activities under the guidance of senior technical specialists.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in configuring LabVantage LIMS modules including system administration, sample management, and reporting functions under technical supervision.
Maintain master data elements, controlled vocabularies, and workflow configurations to support laboratory operations.
Support the creation and maintenance of test templates, calculation scripts, result entry forms, and specification limits.
Assist with configuration of user roles, job types, and security models according to governance standards.
Document configuration changes and maintain version-controlled configuration records.
Provide Tier 2 technical support for platform and master data related issues, escalating complex problems when necessary.
Assist in troubleshooting system integrations with enterprise platforms such as ERP, ELN, QMS, MES, and analytics systems.
Support development of simple scripts, business rules, and automation components within the LabVantage environment.
Assist with barcode label creation using labeling tools and support basic reporting requirements.
Support API testing and data validation activities to ensure reliable system integration.

Quality, Validation and Compliance

Perform tasks in accordance with GxP requirements, 21 CFR Part 11 regulations, and ALCOA++ data integrity principles.
Assist in preparing configuration documentation, system design specifications, and validation test scripts for IQ, OQ, and PQ activities.
Participate in change control processes, system release management, and deployment procedures to maintain validated system states.
Support validation testing activities by executing test cases and documenting results in accordance with compliance standards.

Support and Continuous Improvement

Assist in resolving technical incidents and service requests related to LIMS platform operations.
Support platform upgrades, system patches, and regression testing activities.
Contribute to knowledge base documentation and reusable configuration templates.
Identify opportunities for small enhancements and process improvements within the laboratory systems environment.

Collaboration and Learning

Collaborate with senior technical configurators, validation teams, and laboratory business users to translate operational requirements into system configurations.
Participate in vendor interactions and collaborative project activities when required.
Actively pursue technical training and professional development within the LabVantage ecosystem and laboratory informatics domain.

Education Qualification
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.

Experience Required
Minimum 3+ years of experience with LIMS platforms or laboratory information systems, including internships, academic projects, or early career experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or laboratory technology environments.

Required Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to technical details.
Basic understanding of laboratory workflows and regulatory compliance requirements in life sciences.
Interest in learning LabVantage configuration, scripting technologies such as Java, Groovy, or SQL, and system validation practices.
Basic exposure to APIs, middleware technologies, or enterprise reporting systems.
Strong documentation and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

Basic knowledge of Azure-hosted applications or cloud-based enterprise platforms.
Familiarity with test automation tools used in validated environments.
Working knowledge of SQL and interest in developing SDK-driven automation capabilities.
Introductory understanding of REST or SOAP APIs and enterprise system integration.
Interest in master data governance, version control systems such as Git, and change management processes.
Experience using collaboration and ticketing tools such as Jira, ALM, or ServiceNow.
LabVantage training or certifications are considered an advantage.
