Job Overview:
Amgen is seeking a highly experienced JAPAC Privacy Compliance Senior Manager to join its Worldwide Compliance & Business Ethics (WC&BE) Department. Based in Hyderabad, this role supports Amgen’s Privacy Compliance initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region. Reporting directly to the Chief Privacy Officer, the individual will play a vital role in regional data protection efforts, privacy training, incident response, and ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions in a fast-paced, global biopharmaceutical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise and support local compliance teams on all data protection issues, DPA notifications, audits, and inquiries.

  • Handle data subject inquiries (access, correction, deletion) and support privacy-related regulatory inspections.

  • Conduct self-assessments to identify and remediate privacy gaps; report findings to the Head of Global Privacy.

  • Provide input on regional privacy regulations, risks, and DPA activities to the Global Privacy Compliance team.

  • Support cross-border data protection matters and assist in global privacy program execution.

  • Draft and review privacy notices, templates, and consent forms to ensure consistency across geographies.

  • Deliver privacy training and regular communication with business stakeholders on compliance best practices.

  • Collaborate with Legal, Corporate Audit, Information Systems, and WC&BE to enable and improve privacy compliance.

  • Strengthen privacy incident response capabilities and ensure alignment with global policies and standards.

  • Promote privacy awareness and foster a culture of compliance across all operational levels.

Minimum Requirements:

  • LLB or equivalent degree with 10+ years of experience in privacy and data protection in a regulated global organization (preferably biopharma).

  • Expertise in privacy laws and regulatory environments across Asia.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple cross-departmental projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate with diverse stakeholders, including legal, IT, and compliance teams.

  • Experience in responding to privacy incidents and regulatory inquiries.

  • Strong ability to manage ambiguity, synthesize complex data, and translate compliance strategy into actionable plans.

  • Availability to respond during privacy-related crises and incidents.

  • Proven relationship-building and collaborative capabilities in a matrixed organization.

  • High ethical standards and commitment to delivering quality results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CIPP certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

  • Experience in crisis management and handling regulatory privacy inspections.

  • Familiarity with global compliance structures and privacy-security program integration.

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
