Job Overview:

The In vivo Pharmacology Scientist will be responsible for executing in vivo pharmacology experiments, focusing on disease models and mechanistic studies. This role involves independent and collaborative work in designing and performing efficacy experiments within the therapeutic area, as well as reporting and analyzing research outcomes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with various disease models and animal handling techniques.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Disease Models:
    • Execute disease models, including db/db, ob/ob, ZDF, Zucker, GK rat, and STZ models.
    • Work with obesity and dyslipidemia models, including DIO mice, DIO rats, hyperlipidemic hamsters, and hyperlipidemic guinea pigs.
  • Mechanistic Studies:
    • Conduct mechanistic studies, including OGTT, IVGTT, IPGTT, MMTT, LTT, and Euglycemic hyperinsulinemic clamps.
  • In vivo Efficacy Experiments:
    • Design and execute in vivo efficacy experiments independently or in collaboration with senior scientists and team members.
    • Perform various animal handling techniques (rodents and non-rodents), including dosing, bleeding, injections, and surgical procedures such as cannulation.
  • Research Analysis & Reporting:
    • Provide technical analysis and report outcomes of research related to the relevant therapeutic area.
    • Contribute to the preparation of study reports and communicate findings confidently in meetings.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork:
    • Collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating organizational skills and the ability to work well with others.

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Qualification:
    • M. Pharm degree.
  • Experience:
    • 2-8 years of hands-on experience in in vivo pharmacology, specifically with disease models and mechanistic studies.
    • Experience with animal handling techniques, including dosing, injections, bleeding, and surgical procedures.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong experience with disease models, particularly those relevant to obesity, dyslipidemia, and diabetes.
  • Expertise in performing mechanistic studies and handling laboratory animals (rodents and non-rodents).
  • Proficient in reporting research outcomes and analysis for relevant therapeutic areas.
