Scientist I – Protein Biology

Company: Thermo Fisher Scientific

Work Schedule: Standard (Monday–Friday)
Work Environment: Cleanroom (strict hygiene compliance required)


Expected Salary

₹6–12 LPA CTC (typically ₹7–10 LPA for 0–3 years of protein/cell biology experience)


Role Overview

The Scientist I – Protein Biology role is part of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s R&D Cell Culture team. The position focuses on mammalian cell culture, protein biology experiments, and supporting antibody development workflows through validation of cell-based systems, reagents, and laboratory processes.


Key Responsibilities

Cell Culture & Maintenance

  • Perform aseptic culture and expansion of:

    • Mammalian cancer cell lines

    • Primary cells

    • Stem cells

  • Cryopreservation and maintenance of cell banks.

Protein Biology & Assays

  • Conduct experiments involving:

    • Western Blot

    • Immunoprecipitation (IP)

    • Immunofluorescence (IF)

  • Perform pharmacological stimulation and inhibition assays.

  • Prepare buffers, media, and lysates for experiments.

Data & Documentation

  • Monitor cell health daily and maintain detailed experimental records.

  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance.

  • Maintain lab notebooks (electronic or manual).

Experimental Planning

  • Design, execute, and document experiments.

  • Contribute to technical writing and reporting.

  • Support validation of workflows, reagents, and consumables.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • M.Sc. in:

    • Cell Biology

    • Biotechnology

    • Genetics

    • Related Life Sciences

Experience

  • 0–3 years of relevant industry or research experience.


Technical Skills

Core Biology Knowledge

  • Cell biology fundamentals

  • Protein biology

  • Molecular biology techniques

Laboratory Skills

  • Cell culture (mammalian systems)

  • Sterile techniques (GLP/GMP preferred)

  • Protein assays and imaging techniques

Software & Analysis

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • GraphPad Prism or similar statistical tools


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with stem cell culture.

  • Exposure to GLP/GMP environments.

  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Strong scientific writing and documentation skills.

  • Familiarity with antibody development workflows.


Cleanroom Compliance Requirements

Strict adherence required:

  • No makeup, perfume, nail polish, jewelry

  • Minimal personal grooming products

  • Controlled contamination environment protocols
