Job Overview

Syngene is hiring highly motivated professionals for the position of Associate Scientist / Senior Research Associate in the Translational Medicine – Genomics Division at its Bangalore facility.

The role is ideal for candidates with strong hands-on laboratory expertise in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), genomics workflows, transcriptomics, qPCR, ddPCR, and molecular biology techniques. Candidates should possess practical experience handling biological samples including FFPE tissue, blood, saliva, and liquid biopsy samples for translational and clinical research programs.

Professionals with expertise in RNA-Seq, WES, WGS, biomarker assay development, assay validation, and genomics automation platforms will be highly preferred.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform genomics and transcriptomics assays including genotyping and gene expression profiling (GEP)

  • Develop, optimize, validate, and execute molecular biology workflows for translational medicine programs

  • Conduct NGS, qPCR, ddPCR, and PCR-based assays for clinical and research applications

  • Work with FFPE tissue samples, blood, saliva, and other biological specimens for high-throughput genomics workflows

  • Support development and qualification of DNA and RNA-based assays

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including clinical operations, sample management, and biorepository teams

  • Operate and support automated liquid handling systems for genomics workflows

  • Analyze and review assay quality control (QC) data and troubleshoot experimental issues

  • Maintain accurate documentation using ELN and LIMS systems under GCP-compliant processes

  • Prepare technical reports, SOPs, and project-related documentation

  • Manage multiple projects while ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables


Educational Qualifications

  • M.Sc. / M.Tech in:

    • Biotechnology

    • Molecular Biology

    • Life Sciences

    • Genomics

    • Related Biomedical Sciences


Required Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience in:

    • NGS workflows

    • RNA Sequencing (RNA-Seq)

    • Whole Exome Sequencing (WES)

    • Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS)

    • qPCR

    • ddPCR

    • PCR technologies

  • Expertise in assay development, validation, troubleshooting, and QC review

  • Experience handling FFPE samples and liquid biopsy workflows preferred

  • Knowledge of molecular biology techniques including:

    • Nucleic acid extraction

    • Bioanalyzer

    • Qubit

    • Nanodrop

    • Tapestation

  • Familiarity with genomics-related bioinformatics tools

  • Experience with Automated Liquid Handlers is an added advantage

  • Strong communication, collaboration, presentation, and organizational skills
