Role Overview:
The Imaging R&D Scientist will join Lilly Imaging/Avid Radiopharmaceuticals, providing technical expertise in molecular imaging for drug discovery programs. This role focuses on the development and characterization of novel PET imaging agents, primarily in neuroscience and oncology, supporting translational research and biomarker initiatives. The scientist will independently design experiments, conduct assays, analyze data, and present results to internal teams and the global scientific community.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research & Assay Development:

  • Establish and execute imaging research projects supporting oncology, neuroscience, or other therapeutic areas.

  • Design and conduct novel biochemical, cellular, and tissue assays, including radioligand binding assays, ELISA/AlphaLISA, SPR, and LC/MS.

  • Characterize and purify biological targets relevant to PET imaging.

  • Implement translatable imaging biomarker assays in collaboration with internal project teams.

2. Collaboration & Scientific Communication:

  • Coordinate experimental details of internal and external partnered projects.

  • Present data and findings to internal teams and the international scientific community.

  • Publish research outcomes in peer-reviewed journals and participate in scientific symposia.

3. Professional Development & Innovation:

  • Participate in extramural scientific organizations and workshops to advance skills.

  • Maintain awareness of novel imaging technologies and therapeutic area biology to support research objectives.

  • Demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, and team-oriented problem solving.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical or biological sciences or an imaging-related field with ≥15 years’ experience, OR

  • Master’s degree with ≥12 years’ experience, OR Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience in in vitro assay development.

  • Peer-reviewed publications.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  • Ph.D. preferred.

  • Experience in oncology or neuroscience, particularly molecular imaging.

  • Proven ability to independently design and execute novel biochemical, cellular, and tissue assays.

  • Experience with amyloidogenic proteins and PET molecular imaging agents.

  • Strong communication, presentation, organizational, and collaborative skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $121,500 – $198,000 depending on experience and education.
