Head Pharmacovigilance – India (Mumbai)

Job Summary:
Join a leading pharmaceutical organization as Head of Pharmacovigilance in India, based in Mumbai. This senior leadership role demands extensive expertise in global drug safety and pharmacovigilance, overseeing PV compliance, health authority interactions, vendor management, signal detection, and risk evaluation. Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the subject matter expert for pharmacovigilance and drug safety systems

  • Ensure full compliance with local and global PV regulations and health authority standards

  • Lead and oversee PV contracts, vendor operations, audits, and inspections

  • Direct signal detection, benefit-risk evaluation, and development of RMPs

  • Serve as the primary safety liaison with national regulatory authorities and global stakeholders

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, QA, and Marketing teams

  • Contribute to clinical safety protocols including SAE reporting and safety monitoring plans

  • Drive continuous improvement within the PV team through leadership and mentoring

  • Manage PV budgets, resource planning, and organizational alignment


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Medicine (MD) or Pharmacy

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in pharmacovigilance within the pharmaceutical industry

  • Deep understanding of local and global PV regulations (e.g., GVP, ICH guidelines)

  • Proven leadership capabilities in building and scaling PV systems

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, communication, and team management skills
