About the Role
We are seeking a highly strategic and scientifically accomplished Global Publications Lead to drive global publication strategy, scientific communications, and end-to-end publication planning for innovative rare disease therapies. This leadership opportunity is ideal for professionals with expertise in medical publications, scientific communications, publication management, clinical development, congress communications, and pharmaceutical medical affairs.

The ideal candidate will lead publication strategy across global clinical programs, manage scientific dissemination activities, and ensure high-quality delivery of manuscripts, congress materials, and evidence communication aligned with global medical strategy.

This role is particularly suited for professionals passionate about rare disease research, publication excellence, scientific integrity, and global stakeholder leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Global Publication Strategy & Scientific Leadership

  • Lead the global publication strategy for assigned therapeutic portfolios, ensuring scientific evidence reaches appropriate healthcare and research audiences effectively.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive publication plans aligned with clinical development objectives, medical strategy, and business priorities.
  • Shape publication roadmaps for primary manuscripts, secondary analyses, pooled analyses, congress outputs, and scientific communication initiatives.
  • Ensure strategic dissemination of high-impact scientific research globally.

Publication Planning & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Chair Publication Planning Group (PPG) meetings and drive strategic alignment across global cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Lead publication prioritization, timeline governance, authorship planning, and decision-making across complex publication programs.
  • Coordinate with medical affairs, clinical development, scientific leadership, and global therapeutic teams to ensure seamless execution.

End-to-End Publication Lifecycle Management

  • Manage the full publication lifecycle from concept development through manuscript creation, author coordination, journal submission, peer review management, and post-publication activities.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all scientific communication milestones while maintaining exceptional publication quality standards.
  • Oversee execution of strategic publication deliverables across internal and external teams.

Congress Communications & Scientific Dissemination

  • Coordinate development of scientific congress materials, including abstracts, posters, oral presentations, publication extenders, and conference communication assets.
  • Ensure congress communications align with medical strategy, scientific messaging, and compliance expectations.
  • Support visibility of clinical evidence across global scientific forums.

Compliance, Publication Ethics & Scientific Governance

  • Ensure adherence to GPP4 (Good Publication Practice), ICMJE guidelines, internal SOPs, publication ethics, authorship standards, and scientific integrity principles.
  • Maintain high-quality governance across all scientific dissemination activities.
  • Support audit readiness, documentation quality, and compliant publication practices.

Stakeholder Management & External Collaboration

  • Build strong working relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), medical writers, publication agencies, scientific stakeholders, and internal leadership teams.
  • Manage external agency relationships, contracting activities, publication budgets, and scientific communication partnerships.
  • Act as a trusted publication strategy advisor across global stakeholders.

Training & Capability Development

  • Provide internal training on publication strategy, authorship criteria, scientific communication best practices, and publication governance.
  • Strengthen organizational publication capabilities through knowledge-sharing and process excellence initiatives.

Project Management & Operational Excellence

  • Manage complex publication timelines, cross-functional dependencies, deliverable governance, and execution milestones.
  • Drive continuous improvement across publication workflows, documentation processes, and communication effectiveness.
  • Utilize publication management platforms and operational systems efficiently, including Datavision where applicable.
