About the Role
We are seeking a strategic and highly experienced Global Publications Lead to drive end-to-end scientific publication strategy for a global pharmaceutical portfolio. This role is ideal for professionals with strong expertise in medical publications, scientific communications, publication planning, stakeholder management, and pharmaceutical clinical development.

The ideal candidate will lead global publication planning, scientific dissemination strategy, cross-functional publication governance, and execution of high-impact medical communication initiatives across international healthcare markets.

Key Responsibilities

Global Publication Strategy & Scientific Communications Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive global publication strategies aligned with medical and clinical objectives.
  • Drive scientific dissemination planning for clinical research, therapeutic portfolios, and evidence communication initiatives.
  • Ensure timely communication of key scientific findings to healthcare professionals, researchers, and global medical communities.
  • Align publication strategy with broader clinical development and medical affairs objectives.

Publication Planning & Lifecycle Management

  • Chair and lead Publication Planning Group (PPG) meetings involving cross-functional global stakeholders.
  • Drive decision-making related to publication priorities, authorship planning, timelines, and scientific dissemination strategy.
  • Manage the complete publication lifecycle from concept development through manuscript creation, journal submission, peer review responses, publication approval, and post-publication activities.
  • Oversee high-impact manuscripts, primary publications, secondary analyses, pooled analyses, and scientific evidence communication initiatives.

Congress & Scientific Communication Development

  • Coordinate scientific communication deliverables including abstracts, posters, oral presentations, congress materials, and publication extenders.
  • Ensure medical communications align with therapeutic strategy, scientific positioning, and publication governance requirements.
  • Support visibility of scientific evidence through strategic conference and journal publication initiatives.

Compliance, Governance & Publication Quality

  • Ensure compliance with GPP4, ICMJE guidelines, publication ethics, authorship standards, and internal pharmaceutical publication governance frameworks.
  • Maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity, ethical communication, and documentation quality.
  • Support publication process governance, audit readiness, and internal quality expectations.

Stakeholder & Agency Management

  • Build strong working relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), medical affairs teams, scientific writers, publication agencies, and global internal stakeholders.
  • Manage external publication vendors, agency deliverables, contractual coordination, and budget oversight.
  • Facilitate collaboration between cross-functional teams to ensure seamless publication execution.

Training, Capability Building & Process Excellence

  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams on publication best practices, authorship policies, and scientific communication standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across publication workflows and governance models.
  • Identify process optimization opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and stakeholder collaboration.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree, PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced qualification in Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, or related healthcare disciplines.
  • 4–6+ years of relevant experience in publication management, scientific communications, pharmaceutical medical affairs, STM publishing, or medical communication agencies.
  • Strong expertise in scientific publication strategy, manuscript development, publication governance, and healthcare scientific communications.
  • Deep knowledge of GPP4, ICMJE guidelines, publication ethics, authorship governance, and pharmaceutical compliance standards.
  • Proven project management experience managing complex global, multi-stakeholder deliverables.
  • Experience working with publication management platforms such as Datavision or equivalent tools is preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, scientific communication, planning, and leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
