Field Service Technician – Austin, TX

Job Summary

Vantive is hiring a Field Service Technician for its Austin, Texas location to support the service and maintenance of electro-mechanical medical devices in hospitals and clinics. This client-facing role offers a mix of technical problem-solving, customer training, and field-based autonomy. Ideal for candidates with a technical degree and hands-on experience in biomedical or electro-mechanical equipment, this position offers competitive pay and benefits with travel opportunities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, repair, calibration, and preventive maintenance of medical equipment.

  • Troubleshoot equipment failures to identify and resolve root causes.

  • Manage service schedules and territory travel to meet service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and performance activities.

  • Ensure test equipment functionality and calibration compliance.

  • Order and track parts inventory for equipment servicing.

  • Provide training and guidance to customer staff on equipment usage and maintenance.

  • Foster positive relationships through timely communication and professional representation.

  • Participate in team meetings, training programs, and field actions as needed.

  • Travel outside the designated territory when required.

  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Engineering, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or Computer Science; OR

  • Non-related Associate’s degree with 3+ years of electro-mechanical troubleshooting experience; OR

  • BMET certification with 3+ years of electro-mechanical experience; OR

  • Completion of U.S. military electrical/biomedical equipment program.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Proficient in written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to manage territory independently with strong organizational skills.

  • Physical ability to lift/move equipment (up to 50 lbs regularly, more with aids), kneel, bend, stand, and drive or fly long distances.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Prior field service experience preferred.

  • Familiarity with healthcare environment protocols including PPE compliance.
