Role Overview

As an EHS Senior Associate, you will join Pfizer’s dynamic Environment, Health, & Safety (EHS) division. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with occupational safety standards, improving EHS performance, and supporting the health and safety of employees and patients. Your expertise will contribute to the completion of complex projects and the development of sustainable and safe workplace practices.


Key Responsibilities

Compliance and Inspections

  • Identify hazardous workplace conditions and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal and state occupational safety standards.
  • Conduct site inspections, recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and monitor implementation.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections and inquiries involving environmental, health, and safety issues.

Training and Collaboration

  • Educate and train others within the organization (Train-the-Trainer model) to improve awareness of EHS practices.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with site functional groups to support EHS initiatives.

Project Management

  • Contribute to the completion of complex projects and manage work activities within the team.
  • Participate in capital project teams and understand the capital project system.

Process Improvement

  • Support the integration of EHS into day-to-day management and operational activities.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, collaborate with safety champions/management, and coordinate improvement projects.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of EHS-related databases and utilize both internal and external data systems effectively.
  • Analyze and report safety performance metrics and trends.

Additional Duties

  • Support emergency response activities and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 6+ years of relevant EHS experience, or Associate's degree with 4+ years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience.
  • Experience in developing and implementing safety programs.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including comfort with public speaking and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional safety certifications (e.g., Board of Certified Safety Professionals, National Safety Council).
  • Certifications in ergonomics.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and knowledge of regulations (IBC, NFPA, NEC).
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001/45001 environmental health and safety management systems.
  • Experience with in-plant Emergency Response Teams.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to walk, climb stairs/ladders, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must achieve medical clearance to wear full-face respirators.
  • Routine exposure to laboratory and manufacturing areas with moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and moderate noise levels.

Work Schedule and Travel

  • Support for a 24/7 operational schedule, including potential weekend and overnight work as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $80,300 to $133,900 annually.
  • Bonus Eligibility: 10% of base salary through Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan.
