Position Overview:

Labcorp is seeking a Senior Clinical Veterinarian to join their Greenfield, Indiana team, one of the largest preclinical research sites in the world. Responsibilities:

  • Veterinary Care:

    • Provide medical and surgical care for laboratory animals, ensuring humane and adequate veterinary support.
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with animal care policies and regulations (USDA, AAALAC, etc.).
  • Training and Education:

    • Mentor and train technicians and staff on animal health, welfare, and veterinary procedures.
    • Serve on committees like IACUC and provide scientific expertise on animal health and research methodologies.
  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Assist with regulatory and administrative duties related to animal welfare (compliance with USDA, AAALAC, etc.).
    • Lead projects to improve animal care standards.
  • Scientific Leadership:

    • Attend and contribute to scientific meetings and organizations, promoting research in Laboratory Animal Medicine.
    • Provide expertise in areas like anesthesia, ophthalmic care, and more.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Licensing:

    • Graduate from an AVMA accredited school or equivalent training.
    • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in laboratory animal medicine.
    • A veterinary license in at least one state and ability to obtain USDA accreditation in the state within 6 months.
  • Desired Experience:

    • Board certification or eligibility for certification in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine.
    • Experience with small and large animals in research and handling surgical models and complex anesthesia protocols.
    • Preferably experience with canines and nonhuman primates.
